THE RIVER CONNECTS US.
The Tijuana River is a fundamental part of the origin and development of our city. The first human settlements were established along the river, and since then it has been the backbone of Tijuana's growth; it is a crucial part of its urban and natural landscape.
However, today it is in a critical situation resulting from decades of neglect and negative impacts, which today are synonymous with environmental, urban and social degradation, and which threaten the well-being, health, competitiveness and habitability of our communities in Tijuana and San Diego.
Today we have a great opportunity to begin a process of rebirth of the Tijuana River that will contribute to improving the health and well-being of our population, reconnect us with our natural ecosystem and encourage us to build a better future for our city and binational region.
LET'S REIMAGINE OUR RIVER
Together, with vision, strategy and action, we can make the dream of a river that is a natural and cultural heritage for all, the great environmental and sustainable urban mobility axis of our city, and a world-class destination for recreation, social coexistence and reconnection with nature a reality. It is also vital to face the challenges of climate change and to guarantee a more habitable, sustainable region with a better quality of life for our binational communities.
